Unexpected result of Yemen’s war: more men cook and clean

Summary: Before the war, for the longest time, no women ever made money or left the house without their husband's permission. But now, after the war, the roles have seemed to change. While the women and daughters collect wood to turn to charcoal and eventually sell, the men stay home to care for the children and do some of the cooking and cleaning. Yemen was ranked among one of the worst countries for women and it got worse during the war, but now that it's over, women feel empowered and equal to the man. This unexpected turn of events happened becasue while the men were off at war, the women still needed to make income to support themselves and their children.
Analysis: I think it's good that women now have opprotunities the same as men do and the men can have a glimpse of how women have had to live for years and years. I think it's kind of bizzare how dramatically things have turned, to the point that men are actually staying at home while the women provide for the family, I've only ever seen both men and women work for the family, or just the man.
Culture Connection: This connects to culture because it shows how gender roles are played out in Yemeni commnities.
